We meet each Monday evening during Hampshire term time, from 7.30 – 9.30pm at The Friends Meeting House, 1a Ordnance Road, Southampton, SO15 2AZ, with a short break for tea and chat during the rehearsal.

Our repertoire is normally any string orchestra music we think we can manage from Corelli to Bartok, and occasionally beyond. The emphasis is on shaping performances which give pleasure, stimulus and satisfaction mainly to the players themselves, but a couple of times a year we also hope similarly to engage our audiences.

We invite you to join us for some introductory rehearsals, free of charge, whilst you try some of our repertoire and get to know us. We will probably ask you to sit at the front of the section for part of one rehearsal. If you would then like to consider becoming a member of the orchestra, we will discuss with you whether your skills are a good fit for our current balance of string players.

As a member, we ask for subs of £90 per year (or £45 twice a year), to cover hall hire, music costs etc, and for a commitment to participate in two concerts a year.

Do please get in touch if you'd like to try us out!
